Xi’s emphasis

*Chairman Xi Jinping emphasized to improve digital infrastructure and strengthen the construction of data and statistical capacity in the 4th United Nations World Data Forum 2023. Ding Xuexiang, vice premier of the State Council attended the opening ceremony and pointed out to strengthen the application of digital innovation and accelerate the digital transformation.

 

Industrial Economy

*National Bureau of Statistics: To strengthen the research of statistical system and improve the statistical accounting and monitoring of digital economy.

*Mao Ning, spokesman of MoFA held a regular press conference on April 24th and firmly opposed that the US asked South Korea to urge its chip manufacturers not to fill the market gap left by Micron if China banned the memory chip manufacturer from selling in the country. It is a normal regulatory measure for relevant departments in China to conduct cybersecurity reviews on enterprises that affect or may affect national security in accordance with laws and regulations.

*Shanghai Municipal Development & Reform Commission issued “Shanghai 2023 carbon emissions peak and carbon neutrality key work arrangement” which pointed out to promote the development of NEV and electrify inland waterway vessels, promote the comprehensive development and utilization of "photovoltaic plus" , the construction of offshore wind power in Hangzhou Bay and the construction of clean power channels outside the city.

*NDRC held conference to focus on food security, energy and resources security and the security and stability of industrial and supply chains.

*Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization said to build a world-class synthetic biology innovation industry cluster.

 

Co Focus

*Ganfeng Lithium (002460 CH): Chile has pushed forward the nationalization of the lithium industry, to which Ganfeng Lithium staff said that current imports of the co mainly come from Australia, hardly from Chile. There will certainly be a batch of potential competitors excluded in the future which may also be good news for the lithium industry.

*Tesla: China Q1 revenue of usd 4.891bn, up 5% y/y.

*MIIT: China Q1 software business revenue of cny 2.44t, up 13.5% y/y, total profit of cny 266bn, up 15.1% y/y.

*State Taxation Administration: China 2023 Q1 a total of 1.257 mio units NEV enjoyed preferential policies, up 17.5 y/y, with a total of cny21.24 bn was exempted from the purchase tax on new energy vehicles, up 36% y/y.

* Global crude oil prices closed up collectively. June NYMEX crude oil contract up 1.04% to closed at $78.68/b, July Brent contract up 1.18% to closed at $82.42/b. INE crude oil active contract up 1.64% to 569.5 yuan/b.

* Precious metals closed up collectively. COMEX gold contract up 0.45% to closed at $1999.4/oz. SHFE gold active contract up 0.28% to closed at 442.68 yuan/gram.

* Metals closed down mostly, LME zinc down 1.82%, LME nickel down 1.01%, LME lead down 0.93%. SHFE zinc down 1.29%, bonded copper down 0.53%, SHFE nickel up 0.52%.
